About Rainer

I am probably a dreamer, because to this day I have not given up my belief in love. Even in puberty, I repeatedly threw myself into the confusing maelstrom of romance and magic and was often disappointed.

I had to learn that the world outside of me ticks differently than my longing. It is characterized by cultural guidelines, expectations when dating, a lot of no-go’s and seemingly clear rules about what a partnership is and how it should work.

I didn’t want to remain alone with my “crazy ideas”, so I adapted and lived a wide variety of partnerships. Open relationships, but also partnerships that would have fitted the format of a glossy magazine home story. I was last married to Anja for 18 years.

To put it bluntly, all partnerships failed because of my biography and my romantic dreams. My biography was characterized by a cold marriage between my parents and domestic violence, my longings for “real” love and romance found no equivalent in a capitalist world built on possession and grasping.

My biggest difficulty in all those years, however, was that I closed my heart after every supposed disappointment and followed in the footsteps of my parents’ calculating love.

With a lot of pain and allowing myself to feel, I managed to free myself from the demons of my biography at the age of 64.

I have learned, albeit late, to love and live with an open and yet aching heart.

I am ready to surrender to the romance and magic I dreamed of in puberty and follow the path of love despite all doubts.
